In Delaware, Ohio, diners and food lovers always look for new ways to experience the best food items. Luckily, this community has many fantastic dining options. Son of Thurman's is a fourth-generation restaurant that serves famous burgers, subs, wings, and sandwiches. If you love ice cream, The Dairy Depot has been a community staple for over 65 years and is known for its soft-serve ice cream cones, shakes, sundaes, coney dogs, fried bologna, and more. 

1808 American Bistro is a unique downtown Delaware eatery with a quaint design that pays homage to American heritage. The restaurant serves an innovative menu with modern dishes that feature local ingredients and creative twists. Polaris Fashion Place is a local mall with upscale shopping, dining, and events. The mall features stores like Von Maur, Bare Minerals, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lululemon Athletica, Macy’s, and more.

Things to Do

The Delaware County Fair is an annual event spanning five days and packed with events, vendors, traditional fair food, exhibitors, and more. The Little Brown Jug Annual Horse Race is an event held at the fair, which is a premier harness racing event. Oakhaven Golf Club is a prestigious facility in central Ohio that features a public 18-hold golf course. It is open year-round for play and practice and features a 50-acre lit driving range, heated covered tees, 60 grass tees, practice chipping greens, and a 5,000 square-foot putting green. There is also an indoor putting facility for rain or shine golf amenities. Guests can dine at the on-site bar or use the facility for events.

First Fridays in Downtown Delaware are the first Friday of each month where locals can enjoy shops, cuisine, and family activities, and businesses stay open late. Each Friday features a different theme and is a fun way to build a strong community. Delaware has a weekly farmer’s market from May to September that features local produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, and other items from vendors.

Schools

Delaware City Schools serves more than 5,600 students in preschool through 12th grade in Delaware and surrounding areas. The system has five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The community is also home to Ohio Wesley University, a private institution with local and global educational opportunities.
